Tec-View - FAQ

Q

Can I hang Tec-View screens from the ceiling - like the static displays I already have?

A

We have a wide range of screen mounting accessories and adapters - if we need to make a special or adapt a fitting, this is no problem. We will establish what fixtures and fittings are required to install Tec-View to fit your existing display environment wherever possible. All Tec-View Display Screens comply to the "VESA" standard with standard mounting holes and dimensions and we have numerous sources of display mountings available to us.

Q

I have 6 branches and want to advertise certain properties in more than one branch. Can you do this?

A

No Problem. We program each Tec-View location with the areas to want to advertise at each of your branches. All your property information is still stored in one single database which is accessible over the Internet from all your branches. When Tec-View operates, it displays only the properties in the database which are in the areas you have chosen to display . However all the properties on your database are still on-line and available to your customers using the keypad.

Q

Can I buy a Tec-View installation outright?

A

We have an interest in ensuring all Tec-View installations provide a high quality of service to the consuming public and believe the subscription service route is the only practical way to ensure this. Under the service agreement, you have the absolute rights over the material that is displayed.

Q

How quickly can I get Tec-View installed and running.

A

Typically 7-10 days. We can get you started with the Tec-View Software and one or two temporary screens in 2-3 days.

Q

What is involved in getting Tec-View installed and running.

A

We visit your premises and discuss with you how and where the hardware is to be installed. We survey the installation to ensure any special cable lengths, or mountings are taken care of. In the case of Tec-Print, we will also ensure your letterbox is adequate for this purpose and if necessary arrange for it to be replaced. We will also take note of your PC's and network and discuss with you any minor changes which may be required to your Network or PC's. If you wish, we can arrange to do this work for you.

Operating Tec-View is very easy and fast using software installed on your PC. Training should take no longer than 2 hours.

Q

How many controllers do I need?

A

One controller can support up to 2 display screens, 2 thru glass keypads and 2 Tec-Cam Web Cams. At present, one controller is required for each touch-screen

Q

Can I control Tec-View remotely - say from my home?

A

If you already have remote access to your network, yes. There are a variety of ways we can accommodate remote access depending on your existing IT set-up.

Q

How quickly can I add a new Property to Tec-View?

A

Tec-View software uses a template (which is just a special property record) which is used as a "stencil" when a new property record is generated. Just hit the "New Property" key, and a new form will be presented to you. Now you just need to identify the graphics files that relate to the property - between 1 and 8. The first image is displayed automatically by Tec-View. The other images can be selected by a customer on demand.

Each image as an associated caption - up to five lines. The caption for each new slide is initially the caption in the template. But you can modify it on an individual image basis. So, for each image you add to a property, you may want to edit the caption text as well.

If you are using Tec-Print, you finally need to select the Word Document or Adobe PDF file. That's it! Takes about 2 minutes with practice

Q

Why do I need a dedicated controller? Why can't I use one of my existing PC's when the office is closed?

A

Technically, you could run the Displays and Tec-Print from an existing Workstation. However, the support costs would rise significantly and the quality of service to the public would deteriorate. Tecbridge would also require administrative access to your Workstations. Tecbridge does not support or licence Tec-View run-time software for use on customer-owned and maintained PC's.

Q

Can I use my own media supplies for Tec-Print?

A

Tecbridge provides approved Paper and Ink and we pro-actively make sure you have adequate supplies in stock. If you want to use your own pre-printed paper, you should first contact Tecbridge to ensure your paper is compatible. You need to ensure you consistently use the correct paper. Standard 80g stock is not useable and will cause paper jams.

Q

What happens at the end of the Service period?

A

You can opt to renew your service agreement for 1 year at a significantly reduced rate. For a quotation, please refer to Tecbridge Sales.

If you decide not to renew, Tecbridge will arrange to collect and remove Tec-View at any reasonable time following the completion of the service agreement.

Q

Can I mix different screen sizes in the same installation?

A

Tec-View software can drive displays of any type and size. Although possible we do not recommend mixing display resolutions for screens which are running off the same database. If you do, you will need to check the final images being displayed look OK at both resolutions. If the aspect ratio of one display is not the same as the other, you cannot display the same images without stretching or leaving blank spaces at the top and bottom, or sides of one or other of your display screens. Tecbridge can give you advice on how best to cope with multiple screen sizes if it is really necessary.
